I haven’t tried asking to ‘doggy bag’ uneaten food in the UK, but even quite smart restaurants are happy to do it in France. Just as well, since Phyll and I enjoy good food but have nowhere near the capacity to consume it that we used to have.

Our favourite local restaurants are quite used to us ordering a main course each and sharing an hors d’ouevre and a dessert, as well as packing up the remains of our main courses for us to take away.
