Basil olive oil from Cafe Jubilee, Gozo

A bottle of basil olive oilThis is the sort of little present we buy for ourselves to take home from our holidays. It was beautifully presented in an attractive bottle but we’d got it more as a novelty rather than out of any great hope it was going to wow our taste buds.  How lovely to be wrong!

The basil oil really added a bit of zing to our salads. Sadly it didn’t last very long, but I shall be having a go at making my own as soon as I get my hands on some Italian basil. Meanwhile, I’m also attempting (yet again!) to grow Italian basil from seed.
