There was no need for it to be tied up. It was already dead. I used to buy chickens from our usual supermarket, but they were whole. And I mean WHOLE. Heads and feet and everything. I took it back to the butchery counter and asked the guy nicely if he could remove the bits I didn't want. He was happy enough to oblige but you could tell he was thinking "crazy foreigner" as he cut off the best bits. No! There was no need for it to be tied up. It was already dead.
