Thanks for your comment. It may have escaped your notice that this is Not Delia rather than Private Eye and we don’t have a pedant’s, pedants’, or even a pedantry corner here.

At risk of being branded a pedant – I believe you will find rabbits are lagomorphs, not rodents. equally tasty though!

Sad, Sad, Sad! I at one time in my life did not have a problem with eating squirrel. Never ever again! We have been raising a male for about 4months, hewas just a week old when my husband found him, I bottle fed him and he is now a famly pet. His name is “Buddy”, he has taken on many characteristics of our yellow lab and peekapoo. Buddy is amazing and awfully Smart! He has brought us much enjoyment, we will be relasing him in the spring. I would love to rescue another one again, it has been very interesting. Raise oe ad I promise you too will never eat another. They deserve to live life.

Great story, Mike. LOL! I guess it wouldn’t enjoy a posh afternoon tea at the E&O, Penang, these days. They now use teabags for their “gourmet” teas. Tsk.

So, have you been eating these dormice? Any pics? I bet you could prepare, cook, and serve them and people would either think it was chicken or say it tasted just like chicken.

Aww, they sound cute – maybe you don’t want to eat them.

There are plenty of edible dormice around here (French call it a loir), but no-one seems to eat them. They’re much bigger than a dormouse, and look rather like a tiny raccoon. They don’t approve of teabags. Wifie found one scavenging in a plastic bag full of kitchen rubbish, hanging up in our barn, busy throwing out the teabags.

We were always fans of roadkill food. We don’t like turkey – our Christmas diner was always roadkill pheasant when we lived in Hampshire.

And when we lived in Moray at weekends, returning from Edinburgh every Friday night, we’d often pick up anything from 6 to 10 rabbit and a hare or two to keep our ferrets happy during the week.
