Common Pests – Cockroaches

20 January 2009 | Category Food hygiene, Pest Control | No comments »

Cockroaches can sometimes be difficult to spot. They like to live in drains, behind woodwork, and in other inaccessible places. They also prefer to come out at night when there’s no one there to see them.

Sometimes cockroaches can be brought into a kitchen along with supplies, so check deliveries carefully before storing.

Removal of cockroaches is usually a specialist task but food handlers can play their part by keeping surfaces clean and avoiding the build up of grease and other food residues.

You must also keep waste bins clean or cockroaches are likely to breed in them.
