I'm glad Ollie enjoyed his birthday "cake". :-) With a lot of cooking and recipes, there's often no "right" way. It's more of an art than a science and you can adapt things to your own tastes. It was yummy. I added home-made choc fudge sauce (a la Tightwad Gazette), homemade strawberry sauce (made from our canned strawberries) and the piece-de-resistance, edible silver balls.
